Edges of Judaism: An Introduction to the Ivri Path (Session 3 of 3)

What does it mean to walk the edge of tradition — to be an Ivri, one who crosses over?

Intro to Ivri is a three-part, in-person journey into the Ivri Path, the radical theology at the heart of Temple of the Stranger. Rooted in Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism, and the Shechinah, the exiled feminine Divine of our tradition, the Ivri Path is embodied, inclusive, and transformational. These intimate classes, taught by Rav Jericho and hosted in the warmth of a community member's Brooklyn home, invite us into a thrilling intellectual and spiritual journey of awakening and connection.

Intro to Ivri is open to folks 18+ who are Jewish, Jew-ish, and not-Jewish. No prior knowledge of Judaism is required. This is not a class in Jewish history, it’s an invitation to step into a lineage of seekers and holy disruptors.

These sessions will take place at a private residence in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Space is very limited. Registration will close 24 hours before the first session begins. Due to the intimate nature of this material, sessions will not be recorded.

Pre-Shabbat Challah Bake and Learn

Step into the ancient and sensory ritual of challah, a practice that invites us to connect with ancestors, community, and the sacred rhythms of Shabbat. Together, we’ll explore the spiritual wisdom woven into this tradition.

In addition to baking your own loaf to take home, you’ll have the chance to design and decorate your own challah cover, a tangible expression of beauty and rest to bring to your future Shabbat tables.

This hands-on gathering celebrates the joy of working with our hands, shaping dough and working with fabric as acts of devotion, creativity, and connection.

Come learn, create, and build community with Rabbi Jericho Vincent and baker Jacob Ellis in this warm, inclusive space.

Tisha B'Av Grief Retreat

Tisha B’Av Grief Retreat

Join us for a half-day grief retreat in Brooklyn on Tisha B'Av, the saddest day of the Jewish ancestral calendar. We'll partake in traditional practices and rituals of Jewish grief, explore ancestral wisdom on how to work with grief, and bring presence to traumas past and present, individual and collective.

Featuring teachings and sacred song from R' Amichai Lau-Lavie, R' Jericho Vincent, Sacred Musician Shira Kline and others. Some folks have a tradition to fast on this day, so we'll conclude with a ceremonial break fast for all.

After the retreat, our community weaver will host an informal hang out to chat, digest the experience, and continue to connect.

Dress code:Black grief attire—whatever that means to you. We invite you to dress in a way that honors loss, reverence, or remembrance.

Open to people of all backgrounds. No prior knowledge required.

This event is made possible due to the generosity of the UJA Federation of New York and supporters like you.
